Michael Gray is a retired American actor, known for his portrayal of Billy Batson in the 1970s TV series Shazam!. From 1972-1973, he appeared as Ronnie Collins in the first season of the NBC sitcom, The Brian Keith Show, starring Brian Keith and Shelley Fabares.
Bio: After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Marines in Oct. 1961, John embarked on a professional boxing career consisting of 26 fights over a four year period.
A chance meeting with a casting director at an Italian wedding reception across the street from Universal Studios, changed his direction. From there he embarked on a career consisting of many television appearances including Remington Steele, Barnaby Jones, Baa Baa Black Sheep, C.H.I.P.S., Rockford Files, etc. He appeared in movies such as Deal of the Century, The Late Show, The Long Goodbye, A Fine Mess, Three Women, There Was A Crooked Man, among others.
In 1975 he rushed to the set of SHAZAM! on short notice to step into the boots of Captain Marvel. It is one of his favorite achievements as an actor, as he was able to speak to millions of children and young adults in their formative years.
He retired from Hollywood in 1991, and currently enjoys country living with his wife, Linda, in the lower foothills of the Sierras in Yuba County, California.
